Dominican Republic e-Ticket: What Every Traveler Needs to Know

Heading to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata or anywhere in the Dominican Republic? There’s one form you can’t skip: the e-Ticket. It’s free, it takes a few minutes, and without it you can run into trouble at check-in.

Here’s what you need to know.

What is the Dominican Republic e-Ticket?

It’s the Dominican Republic’s electronic entry and exit form. It replaced the old paper cards handed out on the plane, and it collects the information immigration, customs and public health officials need, all in one place.

Who needs the e-Ticket?

Every passenger, foreign or Dominican, flying into or out of the Dominican Republic on a commercial flight. That includes kids. If you arrive by cruise ship, private plane or ferry, you don’t need it.

Where to fill out the e-Ticket (the official site)

Only on the official government site: eticket.migracion.gob.do (opens in a new tab).

That’s the most important line in this post. Lookalike websites charge fees for the same form. The official e-Ticket is free. If a site asks for your credit card, close it.

When to fill out the e-Ticket

The old 72-hour rule is gone, but do it before you get to the airport. You’ll need it for both directions, entering and leaving, and you can complete the departure form ahead of time too. Save the QR code on your phone.

Traveling as a family?

One person creates an account and adds everyone on the same trip, up to six more people, so seven in total on one form. Nobody else needs to fill out their own.

Quick checklist

  • Go to eticket.migracion.gob.do, nowhere else
  • Have each traveler’s passport handy
  • Know your hotel or rental address
  • Complete the arrival form before your flight
  • Complete or plan the departure form before you fly home
  • Save both QR codes on your phone

The bottom line

It’s simple once you know it exists. When I plan a Dominican Republic trip for you, I’ll remind you when it’s time, and walk you through it if you’d like.
